Since the Tournament was blown out on Saturday we decided to give the tuna a try the next day! We went out Saturday evening and caught a bunch of anchovies. We had quite a few and quit just as it got dark! I left the kicker running all night to keep the batteries going while the live bait pump kept the choivies happy. We shot the Columbia River bar at about 6am the next morning. Got out to about 37 miles when a boat called fish on. Our water still had a bit more temp to go. Soon though it got good and we deployed the gear. The radio chatter was that there were a lot of jumpers. Normally that means that the tuna will be off the trolled clones. That was the way it was. People were having trouble get the tuna to strike. I had a couple in the boat when we say some jumpers up ahead. We slid up to them and started chumming the bait. Fish Traps were thrown and soon there were fish chrashing the water all around. Rods were bent and tuna were hitting the deck. That was the only good bait bite of the day. We kept at chasing the tuna around and ended the day with 17. High boat in our area. Most boats were in the lower single digits. Another great day on the decks of "Just Keep Fishing."
