Cabelas BigHorn Tent
I bought the Cabelas Bighorn tent this year after my old tent
of some 15 years finally was beyond repair. That and the fact
that I wanted a tent with a stove to warm it up a bit when
camping in sub-freezing temperatures. The first test for the
tent would be ease of use! My daughter and I arrived at camp
in the dark. It was raining intermittently. Even with the
uncomfortable conditions we had the tent up in about a
half hour. We placed the stove in the tent and had a nice
fire going in a few minutes. That provided a nice warm
setting for putting together the cots we also got from
Cabelas. It rained hard that evening and the next. Not a
drop of water entered the tent except for around the stove
pipe opening. That of course did not impair or degrade usage,
because it was turned to steam quickly. It was not a lot of
water in either case. The vestibule was a convenient location
for extra gear and a good place to put on boots. By opening
the partition between the tent and the vestibule, it was
possible to also heat that area. I loved the 5 individual cup
holders and the mesh small gear pockets. The only thing I
found lacking in the tent was there was not a loop from the
ceiling of the tent for hanging a lantern. There were other
loops along the sides, the purpose of which I am not sure. My
overall impression of the tent on this week long trip was
great. I would recommend this tent to anyone.
