Well it was time for the first tuna trip of 2006. The water appeared to be there but no one had
caught a tuna in the group I am a part of. But it was time to try. Arrived at Depoe bay early
morning on saturday. Got some sleep before Jack was pounding on the side of the boat!
Time to go, but we had a talk as to whether or not to go. Reports from the day before were
not good and the weather was just alright. Crew wanted to put our hairy eyeballs on the
water and see for ourselves. So out the hole we went! No fog as I thought there might be. A
bit bumpy but on west we went. At about 60 miles out we ran into a great temp break so we
deployed gear and almost instantly it was fish on. 13 tuna in the boat for the day in 1 1/2
hours. Weather and ocean started to get a bit rough so we headed in. It was a great day.
